Macelle Italian Steakhouse to Open in SoHo, Early February

From the masterminds behind pioneering meat & seafood purveyors Steak King, a new value-driven fast casual and affordable Italian steak concept Macelle is set to open in SoHo this February.

The restaurant’s name is inspired by the Italian word ‘macelleria’, meaning butcher, and offers a counter-to-plate steak offering of unparalleled quality and value. The 50-seat trattoria-style restaurant is located in Hong Kong’s bustling SoHo adjacent to PURE Gym Soho and offers both indoor and alfresco casual dining.

Signature items include a 1kg Angus Fiorentina Steak (HK$695 for two people), a 1.5kg M5 Wagyu Rump Cap/Picanha (HK$995 for 3-4 people),  freshly-baked complimentary Focaccia as well as simple, nostalgic desserts like housemade Frozen Italian Custard (HK$35). Also available are choice cuts of European meat, including Iberico Pork Chops, Marinated Lamb Chops (HK$295 for 3 pieces), Free Range Chicken (HK$245) as well as seasonal Sausages (HK$35) and Skewers (HK$35).

Also on the menu are seasonal meat and fish items, all of which will be cooked in Macelle’swood-fired josper which promises to deliver exceptional flavour to every dish.

Macelle will be open for both lunch and dinner with an Express Set Lunch for only $165/per person, including a steak or fish of the day, freshly baked focaccia, French fries & salad or soup of the day and frozen custard with biscotti to end the meal on a sweet note. 

A selection of wines are available by the glass, carafe or bottle and are served in trattoria style stemless glassware as per the casual nature of Macelle restaurant.

“We import our fresh meat and seafood direct from the farmers and fishermen weekly. By cutting out the middle men we are able to offer our premium quality produce through our Macelle restaurant at a fraction of the price of similar steak joints around town. We are keeping the whole thing really simple and quick meaning we can offer great value for money across the board, which I’m sure the people of Hong Kong will appreciate and enjoy,” says Jonathan Glover, Founder of Steak King and Macelle restaurant.

Those who prefer to enjoy their meat at home can opt to purchase fresh meat and seafood from the expansive butcher’s counter at a 25% discount.
